![]() Every year Chestnut Ridge Academy does a Fine Arts Series during the spring semester. It is a series of events and workshops that focus on one artist. Through the series, students learn about the artist and try to create art in that artist's style. In the past, we have studied Vincent VanGogh, Jan Vermeer, and Wayne Thiebaud. This year our focus will be on Henri Matisse. We hope to kick off this series in early February. We try to keep it geared for all ages. In the past, we have split into groups of K-8th grade and High school with one group meeting in the morning and the other in the afternoon. We are looking for help with teaching the workshops. Here are the details: Help Wanted: Workshop Teacher - Plan and teach a hands-on workshop (class) focused on Henri Matisse. We have two workshop dates planned. Each date will have two sessions. K-8th grade will be from 10am to 11:30. High School (8th -12th grade) will be from 1 to 2:30. Teacher will be provided or reimbursed for materials. The teacher should provide CRA with a brief description of the workshop they are teaching. Masters & Me Tea Assistant - Assist the host of this event by helping to set up, serve students and clean up at the end. Silent Auction Coordinator - Student art will be on auction at this event. Plan, organize and host our culminating event that will be a fundraiser for CRA's building fund. Compensation: Will be based on the number of students signed up. A minimum of $20 per workshop. The teacher's child(ren) may attend the workshop/event their parent is teaching/organizing for free. If you are interested, know someone who might be interested or need more information, please feel free to contact the main office at (931)227-7391 or [email protected] ASAP. Chestnut Ridge Academy is a homeschool umbrella in the state of Tennessee that also hosts a variety of social activities.
So far this year, we have hosted the following: Family Picnic & Ice Cream Social Nature Camp Teen Paint Night Harvest Party for PreK-12th grade Mom's Night Out (Bible Journaling and Card Making) Middle School Hang Out Masters & Me Teas LEGO Club Sewing Club Playground Days And we have so much more planned in the near future. Christmas Parties Two Snowball Blast events (One for Middle School and one for High School) 4th Annual Fine Arts Series And so much more! To find out more, contact us at (931)227-7391 Our grading scale can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook that was sent to all new families upon registration this year and to those families who renewed and requested a handbook. Handbooks are available in our office. You may come by our office during regular office hours to get one.
The new grading scale goes into effect for the 2022-2023 school year. It now means the “A” letter grade corresponds to scoring a percentage of points within the range of 90 to 100, for a “B” it’s 80-to-89, it’s 70 to 79 for a “C,” 60 to 69 for a “D,” and zero to 59 for an “F”. Here is an article that goes into a little more detail if you like. New Grading Scale Impacts Thousands of Tennessee Students This mostly affects high school students. Students who are considered to be in the early childhood grades (Kindergarten through 3rd grade), may be graded on an alternative grade scale that can be found in the handbook, on our website (click on the "Grades & Attendance" tab) and on the hard copy grade sheets. Fall Semester grades are due January 15 Spring Semester grades are due June 15*. *Graduating seniors' final grades are due May 1 if they are planning to walk in graduation.
All coordinator positions are volunteer positions. Those who volunteer have a proven interest in providing fun, memorable, and educational experiences to the students in our organization. They plan parties, field trips and other activities that are relevant to the age group they are planning for. We are always looking for fresh ideas. So if you have an idea for an activity or would be interested in helping, please contact the coordinator for the age group you’d like to work with.
