Sign Language 
Wednesdays beginning August 19
8:15am - Beginner
9:15am – Intermediate
10:15am - Advanced
7th grade - Adult
Teacher: Brenda Lunoe
Fee: $5 for the year
Did you know that American Sign Language (ASL) meets foreign language requirements for graduation in the state of Tennessee?
Students will learn ASL as well as signing exact English (more word specific) to our high school students.
 
Algebra I
Thursdays beginning August 20; 3:30pm to 4:30pm
Teacher: Kristin Peto
Grade Levels: 8th to 12th Grade
Required Text: Math U See Algebra 1: Legacy Edition Workbook and Tests. It is a packaged set. 
High School Credit: Math (Algebra I)
Class fee: $100 per semester or $190 for the year.
Students should be prepared for each class with pencils, notebook paper, workbook and test book.
 
Photography
Thursdays beginning August 20
Photography I: 5pm to 6pm
Photography II: 6pm-7pm
Fee: $40 for the year
Teacher: Joey Worden
Ages: Teens through adults
This beginner photography class is designed for anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of photography, from understanding camera settings to capturing stunning images. You'll gain hands-on experience and learn about exposure, composition, and lighting to create visually compelling photos. You will need a digital camera also.

Literary Tea Club
First Tuesdays: 10am to 11:30am
Cost: $5 per meeting (Sept to April)
All ages are welcome.
Step into a world of stories, poetry, and friendship at our monthly Literary Tea! Students gather to enjoy tea, cookies, and lively conversation while sharing their love of literature. Each participant is invited to bring a favorite selection to read aloud—whether it's a poem, a short story, a meaningful book excerpt, a humorous passage, or an original piece of writing.
The Literary Tea provides a welcoming environment where students can practice public speaking, develop an appreciation for literature, and discover new authors and genres through the selections shared by their peers. Join us each month as we celebrate the joy of reading, listening, and learning together over a warm cup of tea and sweet treats.
 
 
ACT Prep Classes
Dates to be determined.
​We are aiming to offer the classes in preparation for the December test. 
Fee: $65 per student
3 weeks of class and 1 week of practice test

This award is presented to students who have consistently gone above and beyond in several areas to include academics, service, work ethic, and kindness.
The recipients of this honor go above and beyond in their academic endeavors, showing dedication, discipline, and a passion for always learning more. Each is graduating with a minimum GPA of 3.75.
They demonstrate a strong commitment to their community by consistently giving time and talents to help others. Whether through volunteer work or church activities, they demonstrate a profound sense of responsibility and compassion, making a tangible impact on the lives of those around them.
Recipients of this award demonstrate work ethic. They are not afraid of hard work. Sometimes it's to accomplish a personal goal and other times it may be to help others accomplish theirs. 
Finally, the award recipients shatter the myth that homeschoolers are unsocialized by maintaining positive relationships with various ages of people around them fostering a harmonious and collaborative atmosphere at all times.
This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of students who embody the values of scholarship, service to others, hard work, and benevolence.
Recipients of this award are given a medal to wear at graduation, a small gift from our founders Brian and Patti Hunt, and a $100 scholarship.

The Office Assistant is often the first glimpse some get of Chestnut Ridge Academy when they walk through the door. The Office Assistant is a professional who oversees clerical tasks, such as updating and maintaining student records. They keep an inventory of office supplies and order new materials as needed to ensure that the workplace is neat and clean for visitors or clients.
This is a part time position starting at 4.5 hours a week. (One day a week) There is possibility of more hours at various times during the year.

Homestead Hospitality Club
9am to Noon
Ages: 11 years old and up
Fee: $15 per meeting or $100 for the year
Meets 2nd Friday each month
High school students may be able to earn high school credit for culinary or home economics. (Chestnut Ridge Academy approves this credit. If you are not registered with CRA, check with your umbrella.)
Through project based learning, students will learn skills that will be useful for years to come. Along with learning new skills (or refining skills we already have) we will focus on how to use skill sets to bless others.
September – Words of Encouragement.
We will focus on letter writing, create a letter writing box, and prepare and enjoy tea time with basic finger sandwiches, fruit, and tea.

Sign Language
High School Credit: 1 Foreign Language
Wednesdays beginning August 20
8-8:40am - Beginner
8:50-9:30am – Intermediate
9:40-10:20am – Advanced
10:25-11am – For students in their 4th or 5th year of sign language.

High School Credit: 1/2 English Credit per semester
Wednesdays 12pm to 2pm beginning August 20
Teacher: Loretta Chase
Fee: $100 for the year
Greetings, all homeschool families with youth ages 12-17! Class time is high energy and interactive, including drama warm ups, student presentations (1 per student), competitive challenges, play discussions, and mini lectures on Shakespeare, his plays, and poetry.

The lazy, hazy days of summer are in full swing, but the start of a new schoolyear will be here before you know it. If you were registered with us as your homeschool umbrella for the 2024-25 school year, the renewal deadline is August 1. After that, the late fee is $35. 

Once you register, you will receive a letter in the mail to confirm your registration. In that letter is a QR code to sign up for the email list. Be sure to sign up so you are up to date on all things happening at Chestnut Ridge Academy.

Ice Cream Social and Yearbook Signing at the beginning of August. 
High school orientation meetings.
Senior (Class of 2026) meetings regarding graduation
