Office Assistant
The Office Assistant is often the first glimpse some get of Chestnut Ridge Academy when they walk through the door. The Office Assistant is a professional who oversees clerical tasks, such as updating and maintaining student records. They keep an inventory of office supplies and order new materials as needed to ensure that the workplace is neat and clean for visitors or clients. This is a part time position starting at 4.5 hours a week. (One day a week) There is possibility of more hours at various times during the year. If interested, please contact Patti Hunt at [email protected] Start Date: January 7 Homestead Hospitality Club 9am to Noon Ages: 11 years old and up Fee: $15 per meeting or $100 for the year Meets 2nd Friday each month High school students may be able to earn high school credit for culinary or home economics. (Chestnut Ridge Academy approves this credit. If you are not registered with CRA, check with your umbrella.) Through project based learning, students will learn skills that will be useful for years to come. Along with learning new skills (or refining skills we already have) we will focus on how to use skill sets to bless others. September – Words of Encouragement. We will focus on letter writing, create a letter writing box, and prepare and enjoy tea time with basic finger sandwiches, fruit, and tea. To sign up, send a text to (931)227-7391. This is a listing of classes that meet weekly at the office. We offer other classes on a monthly basis that will be listed in a separate message. Sign Language High School Credit: 1 Foreign Language Wednesdays beginning August 20 8-8:40am - Beginner 8:50-9:30am – Intermediate 9:40-10:20am – Advanced 10:25-11am – For students in their 4th or 5th year of sign language. 7th grade - Adult Teacher: Brenda Lunoe Fee: $5 for the year Did you know that American Sign Language (ASL) meets foreign language requirements for graduation in the state of Tennessee? Students will learn ASL as well as signing exact English (more word specific) to our high school students. Shakespeare Club High School Credit: 1/2 English Credit per semester Wednesdays 12pm to 2pm beginning August 20 Teacher: Loretta Chase Fee: $100 for the year Greetings, all homeschool families with youth ages 12-17! Class time is high energy and interactive, including drama warm ups, student presentations (1 per student), competitive challenges, play discussions, and mini lectures on Shakespeare, his plays, and poetry. Photography High School Credit: 1 Fine Arts Thursdays 5pm to 6pm beginning Aug 28 Fee: $40 for the year Teacher: Joey Worden Ages: Teens through adults This beginner photography class is designed for anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of photography, from understanding camera settings to capturing stunning images. You'll gain hands-on experience and learn about exposure, composition, and lighting to create visually compelling photos. You will need a digital camera also. The lazy, hazy days of summer are in full swing, but the start of a new schoolyear will be here before you know it. If you were registered with us as your homeschool umbrella for the 2024-25 school year, the renewal deadline is August 1. After that, the late fee is $35.
Once you register, you will receive a letter in the mail to confirm your registration. In that letter is a QR code to sign up for the email list. Be sure to sign up so you are up to date on all things happening at Chestnut Ridge Academy. Here is a sneak peak: Pool party later in July. High school students age 16 and over may give blood. They earn points each time they give. If they get enough points before graduation, they will receive an honor cord to wear at graduation. If a high school student is unable to give for medical reasons, they can ask someone to give in their name. |
