We are now taking applications for the 2023-24 school year. Click on the "Apply Here" tab for more information.
To get started educating your children at home, see the list below for the first steps to take.
How to Start Homeschooling with Chestnut Ridge Academy
Please note: If any of the above items are missing, your application is not considered complete and it cannot be processed.
You will receive official word from our office that your homeschool has been approved in about 2 weeks.
In the meantime, you should make sure you have everything cleared up with your current school – Return any books or Chromebooks, pay any outstanding balances like library fines, etc. Failure to do this can delay approval by our program.
You may also want to look into local happenings in our area for homeschoolers. You may try to find co-op classes, 4-H for homeschoolers, Royal Rangers, Scouts, etc. Participating in such activities is completely optional and should be dependent on what is a good fit for your family.
Once approved, you may start homeschooling and counting days.
Our Philosophy of Education
Chestnut Ridge Academy & Satellite School starts with the premise that educational rights belong to the parents. Parents know their children’s strengths and weaknesses and should be trusted to provide the best education possible with these things in mind. Within the parameters of the law, parents should be given the freedom to choose what educational method/curriculum will work best for their child(ren) and parents should be given the freedom to decide if standardized testing is a good option in any given year of their child(ren)’s education.
We're here to help.
No matter what homeschooling "season" you are in, we are here to help. Our Board of Directors are active homeschooling parents in the local community. They bring a wide range of experience to the table and are in touch with the needs and concerns of homeschooling families in our area. They are constantly seeking out resources that will bring the most benefit to the families of Chestnut Ridge.
